Oh hi.
I'm on the hunt for urban stories. My search has taken me from New York to Chicago to London.
I took my global interests to the BBC where I spent my days as a journalist for the specials department, which creates the interactive graphics for online articles. In addition to a project on climate change I enterprised stories for the world features and online magazine departments and authored daily news articles for the UK and world desks. In my off time I sought video projects and art and culture reviews to develop my personal interests and writing.
I spent my 12 quick months at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in lake-side Evanston, Ill., swarming Chicago's neighborhoods in search of stories. I covered the housing and neighborhood beat as well as the visual arts. But all of that isn't as fun as deciding how best to tell the story - whether it was video, audio, a photo slideshow or some interactive gear, the choices were and continue to be endless.
I'll tell you: I'm Canadian and proud of it. I grew up in Orange, CT and spent four wonderful years in the cornfields of Ohio while getting my undergraduate degree at Kenyon College. I quickly jumped into the concrete jungle of New York City, finding some tree-sprouting refuge in Brooklyn. I elbowed my way into the competitive world of publishing, finally ending up at the art book publisher Phaidon Press.
The rest will be written and filmed, recorded and drawn out in the stories I find in tight corners of urban cities I inhabit. All of which I would be more than happy to do for you! If you're looking for a freelancer, for web, print or radio who does her own photography, video and audio then I'm your woman. Let's chat!
